Tyrant

Here is an unabashedly boozey cocktail based upon Canadian Whisky.  I first introduced the cocktail of my review of White Owl Whisky.  At the time I called it, The Albertan. Since then I have gone back to the recipe successfully with all sorts of Canadian Whiskies, and I decided it needed a less geographically based name.  Because its big and boozy, with 3 oz of alcohol and 4 ounces of juice the name I came up with I came up with is, The Tyrant.

The Tyrant

2 1/2 oz Canadian Whisky
2 oz grapefruit juice (Fresh Squeezed)
1 1/2 oz pineapple juice
1 tsp simple syrup (dissolve 1 tsp sugar in 1 teaspoon of hot water and cool)
1/2 oz triple sec

Build over ice and stir
Strain into a chilled glass
Serve with a lemon wheel garnish

(Grapefruit and pineapple are so under appreciated as mixers for whisky.)
