Rum Cocktail: Sloe Rum Cocktail

The  Sloe Rum Cocktail
(a cocktail by Chip Dykstra Aka Arctic Wolf)

2 oz of well aged old Rum (Juan Santos 21 is a good choice)
1/2 oz of Sloe Gin
Dash Angostura Bitters (optional)
3 -4 Large Ice cubes
1/8 oz Dry Vermouth
Maraschino cherry
Slice of Lime

Construction

Pour the Dry Vermouth into a small chilled cocktail glass.
Swirl the Vermouth to coat all parts of the glass.
Then pour the Vermouth out and discard it.
Spear a fresh maraschino cherry with a long toothpick and place it in the chilled cocktail glass.
Shake aged Rum, Sloe Gin, and Angostura Bitters with ice in a metal shaker.
Strain the mixed ingredients over the cherry.
Squeeze the lime slice over the glass to release a few drops of juice into the drink.

(I will confess that at times I cannot resist adding my ice from the shaker back into the cocktails I mix!)

Enjoy!

Remember, the aim is to drink better cocktails, not more cocktails!
