Thanks for reply – yes the Macallan products are worth tasting.
…. when “unpeated whiskey” read Irish. American Whiskey is now American Whisky.
and while I am still blabbering: What about the new Swedish one(Mackmyra Special in one of the different woods)?

I have not had the pleasure of sampling any whisky from Sweden. Tell me more…

well, I´m not used writing English – I´m Danish – by definition sceptical of all Sweedish – and I don´t think all fermented, destilled barley will end up as whisky worth drinking. Some will be served best in a coffee cup – with coffee… BUT Macmyra has through several attemts(preludes) made an effort to produce quality.
They have experimented with woods from diff. used, American, Frensh to homegown oak, all mixed together in a bottle – a bit overwhelming though.
The end product is OK, especialy their Special 03.
If you miss the tasting notes you are right – I have so many times been mislead by that kind of lyric because I´m a pibe smoker. “I don´t taste as good as you do.”
“The Whisky Exchange” has the notes.
In Denmark a group(Stauning)is trying the same trick but a bit more puritanic… local barley, local water, local wood. At a test last month I tasted it – promising !Murrey aggrees.

I may not like that kind of spiritual blend
BUT that said, I understand your tastes in alcohol……. how ever Amrut CASK Strengh is the best of that brand – Port Ellen instead of Highland Park and where are the unpeated whiskey?…
by the way where do you live – it is impossible for me to find Alberta Rye Premium in Denmark. EU.

Hi Lars:
I am glad you enjoyed the posting, most reviews I have read agree with you that the Cask Strength from Amrut is Awesome. I have not tried it so I cannot hold an opinion. (Generally I love cask strength offerings.)
Although I own a botttle of Port Ellen, I am awaiting a special occasion to open it. My understanding from all I have read is that I am in for a treat. I hope you are right and it surpasses the Highland Park, but it would have to be a tremendous whisky to do so.
As for unpeated whisky, I mention four unpeated whiskies in the article, But if you want a great unpeated Scotch Whisky, try the Macallan Fine Oak 15 year. I am currently enjoying a bottle and it is stellar.
Sadly Alberta Premium 25 has been discontinued due to a sell out of stocks.
